Hi!First of all thank you for accepting me! I've been trying to launch the game for almost an hour but it keeps on crashing (the game icon loads but when I click on it shuts down).I did look at a forum post that had the same issues as me, but I am running java 8 with 64 bits. Here's the log Edit: I've deleted and downloaded the launcher again, but that didn't fix it. I'm on an iMac OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5
Go to this page https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and select the download under the OSX section. If you have any issues after installing it feel free to report back I will be happy to help. Java 1.6.0_65 Means Java 6 Update 65 Java is Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, version 1.6.0_65, running on Mac OS X:x86_64:10.10.5,
Although like you say if it is installed, macs can be strange and they will still default the Java to 6 instead. When I get home I will try it on my Mac to get the Java path for you.
Thank you! I see now in the log that it is in fact directing to the wrong version of java, I'm so glad you caught that! Is there a way to delete old versions or are they still needed? Edit: I do have Java 8 already installed (I don't know where)
If you go into the System Preferences at the bottom you will find Java. Click that then a pane will open called Java Control Panel. Press Java in the middle of the top bar and then the "View" button where it says "View and manage Java Runtime versions and settings for Java applications and applets. What do you have there? post screenshot if you can please. Alternatively I am happy to teamviewer with you to get this issue resolved although that is entirely up to you.
In the Java Control Panel, I think you can uncheck the Java versions that you want or drag the ones that you want to the top.
@Path I get the same thing for both user and system How does team viewer work? I hope we're both online sometime when you're not busy Also, I ran into the crash logs for the ftb launcher and that one is using the java 8 version, but it didn't show me the path it had used to get there. @Sk8 This is what my java control panel looks like: I couldn't find a java preferences option anywhere, nor could I find a spoiler button here (I hope I'm just missing something really obvious) Thank you for being so patient and helpful! P.S. I just found out we can't teleport using commands on your server and I'm freaking out a little, although I did see the version of a map that does something similar to teleports. Edit: both user and system on the HD have a library with a java folder in it, one of those doesn't show me the java version it's using.
Java seems to have had some changes on OSX recently, I am going to try it on my mac now and see what it takes to get going. Team viewer just requires us to be on at the same time so I can access your computer. We don't have teleport commands but we do have teleportation via other methods such as a cell phone mod made by an old developer of ours, pretty neat way of teleporting!
Right just had a play myself, all you need to do is press "Options" on the launcher then in the JVM path box you need to copy the path from the java control panel. Here is mine for example "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java" Which should in theory be the same as yours although might be an idea to copy straight from your control panel so that you can alleviate any potential issues. After that it launches with no issues!
Thank you! I'm opening the launcher right now, I'm not sure where my good version of java is (the path) I've found it! :O It seems to be loading!
Glad we could get you up and running. Do not hesitate to post again in a new thread should you run into any other issues.
