Our Alice server's world has been reset -- we're now on the world of Velendell.

At the moment, because Minecraft has been in a constant flux in regards to updates, many mods have not been ported over and so we're a bit short on what we have installed at the moment. However, you'll find:
  • BuildCraft 2.x
  • IndustrialCraft2
  • RedPower
  • Forestry
  • PowerConverters
  • Additional Pipes
  • IC2 Thermometer

ComputerCraft currently has a memory leak as far as we are aware, and we were not able to install it. It will be making a comeback soon.

To play, use the official SKCraft Launcher, click "Switch..." at the top, and then choose "Alice." Login, update if necessary, and you'll have all the files you need. Login to alice.sk89q.com as usual. Be aware that most active players can currently play, but very new members and inactive players do not yet have access. Please be patient as we get that issue resolved.



When you login, you will appear within Velendell Island, the primary center of the world. There you will find the shops, the Velendell Zoological Society, and some other facilities. Not too far off is the main island, which you can reach by boat (rail will be available soon, as well as other methods of travel).



Many thanks to the individuals who help built the new spawn. I will list their names shortly.

Alice will hopefully be updated this week. Unfortunately, due to the release of 1.2.4, it complicated things. The good news, however, is that we've made good progress on the new Alice spawn.

If you want to help build Alice spawn, please get into our Mumble server (voip.skcraft.com) and join the New Spawn room. You'll have to find sk89q there if you are not yet initiated in the group.

You can now (and have to) connect to Alice with just "alice.sk89q.com" (no :2000). Note that your DNS may have to update for this change to take effect.

In addition, Dynmap for Vincent is back at http://vincent.sk89q.com. Be aware that, as of writing, the tiles are still being re-generated.

Yet another launcher version! This fixes the issue with the launcher getting stuck on "Logging in".

We're looking to quickly build the spawn of Alice sometime this week. If you are interested, please make a reply and also post a picture of one of your works. We'll be doing this in creative mode with vanilla blocks.

As you may be aware, we plan on resetting the worlds for Alice when Minecraft 1.2.3 hits. We haven't yet finalized on the mods we use yet and we're open to suggestions. Presently, we're planning to use the following mods:
  • BuildCraft
  • IndustrialCraft2
  • RedPower
  • RailCraft
  • Forestry
  • PowerConverters
  • possibly AdditionalPipes
  • hopefully ComputerCraft

We are not going to have Equivalent Exchange because its features unbalance the game, and and we likely will not have Compact Solars (which provides the high density solar panels), because it makes all other methods of obtaining energy somewhat obsolete. The latter decision is still up to discussion, however.

Please voice your concerns and suggestions here.

Also, RedPower users will be finding these new features:

New members: First off, if you applied recently and were accepted, you may have been unable to join because you were not whitelisted. This has been fixed! Please try now.

Survival changes: Starvation no longer kills you and shops should work again. Dynmap is currently out of action but it will return shortly. We may soon have a global marketplace accessible via the MapPad, so you can easily trade items without having to find a physical shop. Other features are also going to be added.

Alice changes: Alice will soon be reset for 1.2.3 once the mods we use are updated. I'll be shortly setting up a thread to discuss ideas of what we want to do right this time around.

Launcher updates: The current latest version is 3.1.1. Newer versions will be coming out to support more mods!

1.2 is coming out very soon. As applies to Vincent:
  • We're going to try to bring up a 1.2 final server ASAP and will report shortly on that.
  • There will be a new world.
  • You will be able to bring over buildings and items from the old world, but this will not be available immediately (due to technical reasons). For the first few days (or week, or for however long it takes), this won't be available, so you can play Minecraft "like the good old days." If you don't want to, then please wait until we can boot up the other world so you can get your stuff.

James will be available at a later time. Alice is not seeing an update to 1.2 for some time.
