The server is likely going to be moved this week if all goes well, fixing the various lag issues that we've had in the recent two weeks, and also opening up a large number of opportunities. We may have a dedicated Minecraft event server soon to play various adventure maps and game modes, and our creative server, James, may make its return. We may also host other game servers (although they may be in Europe), such as Garry's Mod, if we want. Thank you for sticking with us; big things are ahead!

In addition, around this Friday, Pacific time, at 6 PM, another theater night is planned. Stay tuned for details.

Tell me the average ping that you get (in ms units), the IP that it is for, and your location in the world.

For Mac OS X: Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility -> Ping tab

  • There are a number of bugs on Alice and these will be fixed towards the end of this weekend.
  • Flying and The End are now enabled on Alice.
  • Dynmap on Vincent is temporarily disabled. It loads but it won't update the tiles.
  • We are considering moving to a dedicated server to make the servers run better.
    • If all goes well, we may have between 16 to 32 GB of RAM to our disposal.
    • I'd like to setup an "on-demand" server that you can temporarily use to do things like upload an adventure map so you can play with friends and other members.
    • I may be able to subsidize the server with other activities, so we won't have to resort to donor ranks and you won't have to pay to play.

Recently, the server has had a number of lag issues, but we're working to get them resolved as soon as possible (possibly by finding a new host).

A pre-release of 1.2.5 has been posted with the following changes:
  • Added shift clicking support in furnaces
  • Added method to easily acquire blocks you have selected in the world in Creative mode using the ‘pick block’ key
  • Made the Direct Connect dialog remember the last IP for the current session
  • Fixed issues detected certain links in chat
  • Fixed wild ocelots behaving like tamed cats
  • Fixed various chat crashes
  • Made cats less eager to sit on things
  • Made cats less patient
  • Fixed world generation failing under certain circumstances
  • Fixed issues turning off sound under certain circumstances
  • Removed all ghost entities under the command of Lord Herobrine
  • Fixed crash when pasting certain characters in chat
  • Fixed slash ‘/’ key not behaving correctly in certain environments
  • Fixed command matching being too greedy (for example: typing ‘/stophammertime’ no longer stops your server)
  • Fixed not being able to click coloured links
  • Fixed potential issue with village door detection (which could cause too many villagers)
  • Made using a stack of bowls on Mooshrooms not consume the whole stack of bowls
  • Made punching a TNT block with flint and steel in hand destroy and drop a TNT block (right-clicking will activate the TNT)

Survival has been updated:
  • Hibachis are back! Throw raw food items onto a trapdoor above a fire and the items will be cooked after around two seconds. You can cook pork, beef, fish, and chicken.
  • Cauldrons are back in a different manner. Throw a mix of ingredients into a crafted cauldron and the items will be cooked. Note that the cauldron needs to have water in it when you throw the ingredients in, and you can only cook one batch at a time.
  • There are new recipes! For circle stone brick, place stone in a circle (similar to a furnace) in a crafting grid. For the 3rd form of sandstone, place two sandstone horizontally adjacent (##) on a crafting grid.

Ingredients for cauldrons are:
  • Melon cookie: 1x wheat, 1x melon, 1x egg
  • Web: 1x sugar, 2x string
  • Mushroom soup: 1x red mushroom, 1x brown mushroom
  • Rotten flesh: 1x spider eye, 1x raw beef
  • White wool: 1x wool of any color

We are still running MC 1.2.3 on Vincent, but you can connect with Minecraft 1.2.4.

Minecraft 1.2.4 has been released. Note that Vincent isn't running this version yet, but we'll update you when we have upgraded. The upgrade will take place very soon. You can join Vincent with 1.2.4 although it is running 1.2.3. Enjoy!

* Fixed seed displaying in F3 debug when the seed is unknown (multiplayer)
* Fixed villager texture changing clientside per profession

You can now (and have to) connect to Alice with just "alice.sk89q.com" (no :2000). Note that your DNS may have to update for this change to take effect.

In addition, Dynmap for Vincent is back at http://vincent.sk89q.com. Be aware that, as of writing, the tiles are still being re-generated.
