Update 2012-06-10

  • Right click netherwarts in the Nether with diamonds to plant a Glowstone tree. You cannot use a Deployer on Alice to automate this. Trees will generally give around ~30 glowstone at most.
  • World Anchor Carts are (temporarily?) mostly disabled on Alice because they are causing a server crash in one particular area. They will load areas but will not keep areas loaded.

  • There's a new ReDispense recipe to cut vines, tall grass, dead shrubs, and leaves. Use shears in the middle and iron for the corners in the recipe.
  • Made cake refill equivalent saturation as to bread.
  • Fixed bug where shortened URLs would be cut off
  • Fixed bug where ender pearls at End portals also went to the mining world.
  • Fixed bug where chat text bled through (MapPad) to chat.

  • XP bottlers now bottle more XP and lose less XP in the process.
  • Wooden pressure plates are no longer triggered by non-player living things.
  • URLs are now shortened in chat automatically, and chat is word wrapped.

  • Throwing eggs at animals can capture them in a spawn egg. Tameable animals (wolves and ocelots) may take more tries to capture.
  • A new ReDispense recipe to produce Bottles o' Enchanting from XP orbs has been added.

  • A new MapPad app -- Homing Signal -- has been added for both Alice and Vincent.
  • You can now type messages ending with /.
  • Fixed some commands being disabled on Alice.

Easing up Vincent

I'd like to suggest the idea of easing up Vincent and allowing teleport commands and other things. That way, Alice would continue to be 'hardcore', but Vincent would cater to seemingly a larger base of players who aren't really into hard core.

Thoughts?

Minecraft server update - 2012/04/15

  • New: Vincent has been updated to MC 1.2.5.
  • New: XP farms are no longer disabled on Vincent.
  • New: Both servers now have network tweaks to completely prevent block lag and reduce latency issues.
  • New: A New York mirror of the servers can now be accessed, which may provide substantial latency improvements for a small number of people (particularly Hawaiians). Access these mirrors by connecting to ny.na.vincent.sk89q.com:10000 and ny.na.alice.sk89q.com:10000 rather than the regular addresses. The need for port 10000 is temporary and the need will be removed in the near future.
  • Changed: The temporary addresses no longer work; use vincent.sk89q.com and alice.sk89q.com as normal.

Upcoming news

I've been working on some changes to Minecraft that should drastically reduce the lag or perception of lag for those who are not geographically near the server. Coming soon next week! Tests so far have been extremely positive.

We figured out the problem and it should not occur again. All servers are up.
