As you may be aware, we plan on resetting the worlds for Alice when Minecraft 1.2.3 hits. We haven't yet finalized on the mods we use yet and we're open to suggestions. Presently, we're planning to use the following mods:
  • BuildCraft
  • IndustrialCraft2
  • RedPower
  • RailCraft
  • Forestry
  • PowerConverters
  • possibly AdditionalPipes
  • hopefully ComputerCraft

We are not going to have Equivalent Exchange because its features unbalance the game, and and we likely will not have Compact Solars (which provides the high density solar panels), because it makes all other methods of obtaining energy somewhat obsolete. The latter decision is still up to discussion, however.

Please voice your concerns and suggestions here.

Also, RedPower users will be finding these new features:

I've released v3.1.0 of the launcher. The highlight is better addon handling, supporting more addons to be installed.

I have a new version of our launcher for testing!

  • Add mods without having to change your minecraft.jar (please report any problems!).
  • Secure update -- everything is digitally signed and verified so files you download always come from a trusted source (either Mojang or us).
  • Remember multiple accounts.
  • All the old features...
  • More features...

Alice is going to be moved as well to the new host and so it will be unavailable for the time being.

Note that because Vincent and Alice are finally joined together on one server, Alice will have friends list support, a constant up to date whitelist, shops, and everything else historically available on Vincent.

We're going to hop hosts (again), hopefully this time for good. We have a potentially beefy server that we're moving to, but we're still taking trials of it.

So I have been pretty unavailable lately, but that's because there's a new update to our custom Minecraft launcher coming soon. It should support auto-update and setup of the Alice server, proper Minecraft directory separation, and proper mod support, and of course all the features in the older launchers.

The issue with Equivalent Exchange is that if you play the game and use that route, it makes IndustrialCraft2 and BuildCraft fairly obsolete. In an effort to balance out things, the following changes have been made:
  • Only the following items have EMC now (though some listed below may have none, in which case you should report the issue):
    • Lava blocks
    • Gold
    • Iron
    • Diamonds
    • Gold blocks
    • Iron blocks
    • Diamond blocks
    • Redstone
    • Bricks
    • Mossy stone
    • Mycelium
    • Lily pads
    • Diamonds
    • Lava buckets
    • Ghast tears
    • Blaze rods
    • Blaze powder
    • Magma cream
    • Coal
    • Log
    • Gunpowder

  • At the moment, you cannot transmute to redstone or gunpowder.
  • The Gem of Eternal Density is disabled temporarily.

If you would like to request an item to have an EMC value, please do so.

A minor update has been pushed. It does not require a new client version.
  • Weather (rain and snow) is less common.
  • Snow is now more brutal and will wipe out torches and plant life (not trees, however).
  • Item leaks are now taken care of automatically and dropped items may be removed as necessary. Generally your more valuable armor items will not be lost if items are wiped, but there are no guarantees.
  • You can now craft Advanced Machines back into regular IC2 machines by putting the Advanced Machines in a crafting grid (alone).

In order to balance out Equivalent Exchange on Alice as well as to reduce the chance of significant troublemaking, some changes had to be made:
  • Philosopher's Stone can no longer produce sand
  • Destruction Catalyst is now without function
  • Hyperkinetic Lens is now without function
  • Catalytic Lens is now without function
  • Evertide Amulet is now without function
  • Volcanite Amulet is now without function

We may turn on some of these features in the future, but only once we've considered them thoroughly.

We're happy to announce that Alice is now running Minecraft 1.1, in addition to new versions of IndustrialCraft2 and Forestry. Railcraft and Equivalent Exchange are now part of the pack, allowing you to build awesome rail networks and dabble in some Minecraft alchemy. However, Advanced Machines is no longer functional, and while your existing machines are still there, they do not work correctly. We will be providing recipes to convert your machines back to their IndustrialCraft2 equivalents, but we recommend switching to vanilla IC2 equivalents with overclockers for new machines. Also, please be aware that you may have to re-charge your tools and armor in order for them to continue working.

Vincent and James are still temporarily offline, but we should have a complete copy of your work up to the point of server shutdown. We are still awaiting some servers to arrive that we have been hoping to move onto, but if it does not come later this week, Vincent will likely be brought online at a temporary location.

Applications have been temporarily paused to handle the recent string of issues, but will resume shortly.
