SKCraft Community

The server is currently having some issues, causing lag and lots of player disconnecting. We'll have to wait for SK to find out what is causing this; a restart didn't remedy it. This will probably take an hour or five at least.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

As you guys have seen, the crafting of the plates using 4 ingots in a 2x2 grid has somehow been been disabled.

Update from SK: It's been fixed.

You will be prompted to update your client upon launching the game.
  • Patched OpenPeripherals to hopefully no longer cause a deadlock. ComputerCraft peripherals should be back in working order.
  • Fixed the scoreboard sometimes failing to update with friend joins or quits.
  • Re-added the important button as the F4 key.

So Alice 1.5 has been up for a while. Quite a bit of things are different from Alice 1.4. Here is a 'changelog' of these things. It's not actually a changelog, because Alice 1.4 is still up.

Click here to read the changelog.

One of our moderators made a mistake and accidentally created some corrupted chunks. If you appear to have "broken" chunks, missing chunks, crash errors near your area, or broken machines, please:
  1. Get two coordinates, one in two opposite corners, covering the affected area.
  2. Post these coordinates and a description of your problem in the Ask a Moderator forum

A moderator will come to inspect your area and see what needs to be done within the next 24 hours.

In the last 5 hours, a moderator made some significant mistakes and unfortunately the world may be in a problematic state.

EDIT: We are keeping the world. Anything currently on the world will be kept as-is, but if you lost something, please speak to a moderator.

The two options (for minimum data loss) are:
  1. Rollback to a backup and forward-restore current chunks on a chunk by chunk basis
  2. Keep the current world and back-restore broken chunks on a chunk by chunk basis

However, to make that decision, I need you all (that would be affected) to tell me:
  1. What would you lose if we rolled back the world 5-10 hours but rolled forward some of your chunks
  2. What is broken of yours (your inventory, any of your chunks, etc.) with the current world
  3. What some of the problems that you are having now are

  • Added a new scoreboard display to show you your online friends. You can assign any friends list to it, so you could either use an existing one from your claims, or make a new MySpace Top 10 Friends. Use /watch list_name

We found a problem with the mod pack build system that caused the configs to not properly update. Please update again if you are getting missing ID errors.

Note that ComputerCraft has been crashing the server due to a deadlock in its peripheral code. This has been occurring somewhat infrequently, but we will see whether we need to personally fix the problem, or if there's an update to fix it.

You will be prompted to update your client upon launching the game.
  • Added some effects to MapPad during teleportation.
  • Added super-speed when walking over a line of gold blocks or smooth sandstone blocks (data value 2).
  • Added a recipe to convert rotten flesh to leather by smelting.
  • Fixed the issue with the ny.alice.sk89q.com mirror pointing to the old Alice 1.4 server.
  • Fixed the header of the MapPad screens being offset right 35 pixels.
  • Fixed some problems with friend lists not being properly saved.
  • Fixed an issue with diamonds not being interchangeable as mentioned in the previous update.
  • Fixed disappearing Advanced Machine Blocks and Overclockers (via a Frogcraft update).
  • Disabled all Safari Nets, Auto-Spawners, and Porta-Spawners from MFR, which should have been disabled from the beginning (but was not due to the switch over of the mod pack maintenance to the mod pack team). This is to solve the problem with severe server clock drops, some exploits, as well as a list of balancing issues.
    • The Pokeballs mod from the old Vincent server has been re-enabled.
    • Nether stars may be sold for cheap at spawn (for purchase) to account for this post-launch balance issue.
    • There are currently no plans to refund Safari Nets or Porta-Spawners, but Auto-Spawners may have a refund program.

  • Updated Applied Energistics.
  • Updated Barrels, which should fix the network issues. Once testing is completed, the packet drop rule will be lifted if the tests are successful.
  • Updated ChickenChunks.
  • Updated ExtraUtils.
  • Updated MagicBees.
  • Updated NEIAddons.
  • Updated Painter's Pot.
  • Updated TConstruct.
  • Updated Thaumic Tinkerer .
  • Updated Translocator.

We've discovered Barrels Mod utilizing 60-95% of the network bandwidth of the server, and therefore we've added a rule to drop all Barrels Mod packets.
  • Those with poor Internet connections should have less of a problem staying connected to the Minecraft server.
  • People with Internet data caps should consume considerably less bandwidth.
  • Logins on the server should now be much faster because the barrels mod is no longer sending a massive number of packets on login.
  • The side effect is now that you cannot see the amount of items in a barrel. Consider switching to other storage solutions.
