To continue the discussion of an update to Minecraft 1.5, I'd like to seriously consider:
- Moving straight to Minecraft 1.5.1.
- Not installing RedPower2.
- Installing Minefactory Reloaded as a replacement for RP2 (although not yet tested)
- Resetting all chunks that have not been marked "keep" (to be implemented)
- Changing the biome generator to Biomes o' Plenty.
- Possibly install Natura and other world generation mods.
This would result in jagged borders around kept chunks, but these can be manually fixed later on.
Aside from that issue, the advantages would be:
- If you want to start fresh, don't mark your chunks as "keep" -- you'll begin anew.
- If you have ongoing builds, they will continue as normal and you can continue where you have left off.
- Everyone gets mod updates for 1.5, as well as the updates added in vanilla 1.5.
- Totally brand new biomes, new terrain -- it'd be like exploring an entirely new world.
Please vote on the poll on this thread.
If we decide to go ahead with this, there would likely be a 1-2 week lead time to allow you to mark any chunks to be kept.
This would be announced on skcraft.com, the launcher, and Facebook.
