We're currently in the process of building a new spawn for Minecraft 1.5. While I asked for builders in a previous thread, a lot of this is impromptu and we need to all be on at relatively the same time.

If you want to help build spawn, find sk89q in TeamSpeak when you see him and send him some screenshots. You can see the list of people in TeamSpeak without getting on on the SKCraft frontpage, on the right side, if you're logged in. You do not have to speak with a microphone, but it'd be helpful.

We're going for an Asian/Japanese style for spawn.

For the last time, Alice is not being reset.

We're going to try using IRC! In the future, it may be linked with chat in the server, but there are some issues to take care of first.

Use this web client to connect, but we recommend using an IRC client.
  • Server: irc.esper.net
  • Channel: #skcraft

Windows users can use HexChat (select EsperNet as the server, and enter a nickname). Note that this server hosts many channels and therefore your name may be taken. Mac OS X users can use Colloquy. There are also numerous IRC clients for Android and iOS.

The server is crashing because of Factorization and the Mixer.

We'd like to build a new spawn for Alice.
  • We are looking for builders, but you need to be pretty good. Post screenshots, ideally in a texture pack that makes the build look pretty.
  • We need to pick a theme, but so far we've been thinking "Asian."
  • We also need to find a suitable texture pack (32x32).

Just for inspiration:

Also, imagine if the player market looked like this!

I would like to gather old worlds and document how long each world lasted. However, until I get some free time, would anyone like to help out? Preferably people who were around back then.

So far:

To continue the discussion of an update to Minecraft 1.5, I'd like to seriously consider:
  1. Moving straight to Minecraft 1.5.1.
  2. Not installing RedPower2.
  3. Installing Minefactory Reloaded as a replacement for RP2 (although not yet tested)
  4. Resetting all chunks that have not been marked "keep" (to be implemented)
  5. Changing the biome generator to Biomes o' Plenty.
  6. Possibly install Natura and other world generation mods.

This would result in jagged borders around kept chunks, but these can be manually fixed later on.

Aside from that issue, the advantages would be:
  • If you want to start fresh, don't mark your chunks as "keep" -- you'll begin anew.
  • If you have ongoing builds, they will continue as normal and you can continue where you have left off.
  • Everyone gets mod updates for 1.5, as well as the updates added in vanilla 1.5.
  • Totally brand new biomes, new terrain -- it'd be like exploring an entirely new world.

Please vote on the poll on this thread.

If we decide to go ahead with this, there would likely be a 1-2 week lead time to allow you to mark any chunks to be kept. This would be announced on skcraft.com, the launcher, and Facebook.

Server's restarted.

We may want to update to the newest GregTech version (for 1.4) but fusion coils have become massively cheaper in the newer versions. Therefore, Fluttermine has suggested a "refund recipe" consisting of:
  • 4x highly advanced machine blocks
  • 1x superconductor
  • 1x energy flow circuit
  • 2x tesla coils
  • 1x iridium neutron reflector plate

The idea is that, before the update, you'd craft your fusion coil block into an intermediary item. After the update, a recipe is made (and the previous one removed) so that you can convert your intermediary item into the items above.
Opinions?

As you're all know, we're back in the update limbo where we can't update to the newer version of Minecraft because of one lady, author of RedPower2. RP2 isn't available for 1.5 (yet).

Therefore we have three primary choices:
  1. Wait for RedPower2, then update to 1.5 (or 1.6) (edit: this is likely what we are going with)
  2. Lose RedPower2 and update now to 1.5
  3. Reset the worlds and update to 1.5 (& transfer builds from 1.4 to 1.5)

There's a poll on this thread; please vote on all choices that you are OK with.
